Anti-Aging Advice and Techniques for the Morning, Day, and Night

As you already know, your skin changes over time due to age, the environment, and the basic stressors of life. Over time your skin begins to lose it’s natural collagen building abilities which will leave your skin looser and thinner than when you were younger. You will notice wrinkles and sagging, dark spots and dryness; which are all normal conditions for aging skin. Aging isn’t fun but it is something that each and every one of us will have to deal with at some point in our lives.

What is Collagen and what does it do, you might wonder? Collagen is a protein that is produced by your cells to help hold your skin together with increased firmness and elasticity!

In this blog, you will learn of the necessary products and techniques available to help you get back the look and feeling of brighter, younger skin. Let’s get started!

 

 

MORNING

Add an exfoliant to your morning routine! Exfoliants remove the top dead layer of skin which enables for newer skin cells to develop. Doing so can help speed up the natural process of collagen renewal as well. Stay refreshed in the morning and choose a serum enriched with antioxidants such as Vitamin C and E. Antioxidants are crucial to protecting against the free radicals that cause aging. DAY

Throughout the day, make sure that you’re eating clean meals, paying attention to and incorporating the following rules into your life will ensure that your skin looks younger longer.

  1. Cut your sugar intake. Sugar causes the inflammation that damages the normal production of healthy skin cells.
  2. Drink plenty of water and reduce how much coffee and alcohol you drink.
  3. Take a Vitamin D supplement.
  4. Look for foods with natural antioxidants in them such as; green tea and blueberries.
  5. Refrain from eating foods high in saturated fats such as; meat and dairy that make skin more susceptible to aging and eat foods high in healthy fats instead such as; almonds.
  6. Eat kale as it contains wrinkle-fighting Vitamin A.
  7. Opt for whole grains and carbohydrates such as; wheat.
  8. Substitute regular yogurt for greek yogurt as it is a top source for probiotics.
  9. Learn to love Omega 3 and 6 fatty acids as they are good fats that boost hydration. They can be found in salmon, flaxseed, and olive oil.
  10. Limit your red wine intake as it causes the redness commonly referred to as rosacea.

All day long, no matter the weather, sunscreen is an absolute must when it come to protection from the sun. Repetitive exposure to the sun damages your skin’s elasticity, thus leaving it droopy and wrinkly. UV rays actually penetrate deep into the skin and damage the collagen support structures found underneath. In time you will see a changes to the texture of your skin as well as discoloration and sun spots. It is recommended that you wear protective clothing from the sun and limit your time outside in order to reduce sun exposure. Between the hours of 10AM and 4PM, the sun emits its’ harshest UV rays, so avoiding being outside during that time is highly recommended. It is imperative that you use a broad spectrum SPF 30 sunscreen on a daily basis. This won’t undo previous sun damage but it will protect your skin from sun damage in the future. Save time and find a moisturizer with SPF in it already! Don’t have the time or find it inconvenient to wear sunscreen on a daily basis? Exercising for at least 30 minutes a day can lead to having firmer skin. Why? By increasing your blood flow, exercise infuses your skin with oxygen and other nutrients needed for healthy collagen production.

 

NIGHT

At the end of each day, thoroughly wash your face and remove all of your makeup. Take time doing this as your skin generates a lot of oil throughout the day and comes into contact with a lot of dirt and harsh chemicals that are damaging to your skin.
